What We Do
The Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley provides more than just a place
to eat, sleep, and worship it also equips clients with the tools to move
forward in life. Whether our clients are in need of temporary care or require
additional services, our mission remains the same: to provide food shelter
and a second chance to all.
Who We Serve
Many of our clients are considered under-educated, unskilled, and/or unsuitable
for permanent employment. All our clients face multiple personal struggles:
- Rising violent crime in their old neighborhood
- Sudden loss of employment
- Sudden loss of the breadwinner in the family
- Flood, fire or other tragedy
- Plenty of part-time work but a real lack of full-time employment
- Rising costs of healthcare, transportation and housing
- Mental illness, chemical dependency or developmental disabilities
- Physical and/or mental abuse by parents, guardians or children
Nearly all of our clients need help in learning how to learn all over again.
Each individual in our voluntary resident program is evaluated with respect
to academic, life, learning and job search skills. Goals are established,
personal curricula are created and a plan to achieve goals is set out for
the clients. Daily pursuit of those goals is the role and focus of The
Mission. Proactive, individual case management ensures that the right need
is channeled to the right agency at the right time and in the right frame
of mind and purpose.
